Interview Magazine

Posted on by Mikey Moscow in Articles, Blog, Travel | Leave a comment

Back in June I started covering pop culture/fashion news for Interview Magazine Russia‘s website. This is me working on my very first piece in stunning Chamonix (my friend’s working at the hotel there so I had to come visit here during my eurotrip).

Crazy Stupid Fun Party

Cheryl Cole’s ‘Crazy Stupid Love’ is my summer 2014′s jem: I’m watching the video every day since it came out and still haven’t even learned half of the dance routine (I’ll get there). So it’s an obvious inspiration behind my tomorrow’s party at Moscow’s ‘Borodach’ bar (Sretenka 27 bld 1). Be there at 23.30 and dance with me!

When the magazine you kicked off you career at asks you to write a piece about your own party… Well, it’s pretty hard to say no.

Alison Fraser’s Tennessee Williams CD

There’s something about my dear friend Alison Fraser. Something about her abilities to light up any room she walks into, to keep her glowing charisma onstage and behind-the-scenes and to make everyone around herself feel warmed and loved. And then there’s The voice. And that’s what I’m going to focus today as it’s the official release day of the two times Tony Award nominee’s latest CD entitled ‘Tennessee Williams: Words and Music’. The album follows Alison’s 2012’s one-woman show ‘Only a Paper Moon: A Tennessee Williams Songbook’, which saw her re-imagining songs and monologues from the various Williams plays with the help of the pianist Allison Leyton-Brown. So in case you missed the actual show (like I sadly did), the new album will surely bring that Broadway swank right into your home. Alison shifts from one character to another, taking on different accents, age and emotions while showcasing her impressive range . Filling the multi-genre collection of songs with her usual mix of elegance and flirtation, Alison once again proves that she is indeed a perfect Tennessee Williams lady. Trust me (and not the ‘The Party’s Over’ number): the party’s never over with this one.

Dancefloor empire: The rules of NYC nightlife

Posted on by Mikey Moscow in Articles, Blog, Party, Travel | Leave a comment

It’s not the first and not even the second time I was asked to write an article about New York nightlife, but that’s just because it’s constantly evolving and every time I discover something new. This time around I wrote my analysis of NYC’s colorful party world for pretty awesome portal SVOY.ru which provides a legal way to listen to music and get all sorts of content (trust me: ‘legal’ and ‘Russia’ do not always mix well so this website is a big deal).

The most amazing part: Akira Rivz did a series of illustrations for my article – and I’m in love with those!

Anti-snow look for spring 2014

Posted on by Mikey Moscow in Blog, Style | Leave a comment

It’s literally snowing in Moscow right now but having escaped most of the winter in the warm parts of the USA, I really cannot complain. Plus – it’s a perfect opportunity to rock my neon beanie from H&M and outrageous golden-lettered-sweatshirt from Forever21.

Two of my recent parties in Moscow.

See, I can be both sweet…

… and (kinda) vicious.

The next ones are set for April, 11th and 19th and I’ll tell you all about them in a bit.

Whores & Horns Birthday

Posted on by Mikey Moscow in Blog, Party | Leave a comment

I realized I never told you about my 24th Birthday celebration. Obviously, it had to have a very classy name – so I settled with ‘Whores & Horns’. It also needed a killer poster – that’s where my photographer friend Olga Karabchevskaya helped me.

null

I was celebrating at ‘BORODACH’ bad and was dressed in a faux-latex catsuit I got in Chicago and some Halloween-store-sale devil goodies.

null

Some people also came in prepared

null

I even performed with my friends from ‘Chaos in the living room’: we did ‘Buttons’, ‘Just Dance’ and ‘I kissed a boy’ together. Maybe I’ll post a video one day. I dare you to finish watching it!

null

There was a lot of dancing (as it usually it at my parties)

null

I DJed for most of the night – but couldn’t really stop dancing

null

So that was it: another happy night in the Mikey Moscow land. The afterparty was also epic and involved 10 people sleeping in my room. I think I’ll keep the pics from that to myself, but here’s a group shot from the actual party.

GBF: 10 best quotes

Posted on by Mikey Moscow in Blog, Cinema | 2 Comments

GBF, Darren Stein-directed recent teen classic, finally hits DVD in the States today, and that’s one comedy you should not miss: it’s charming, smart, sexy and has way too many memorable one-liners. So many that it was quite hard for me to narrow it down to the ten best ones. But I did anyway and apparently I’m Team Fawcett (portrayed by ridiculously cute Sasha Pieterse from ‘Pretty Little Liars’ – can you believe that girl is only 17?!). ‘Jawbreaker’/’Mean Girls’/John Hughes fans – consider it your final warning, ‘kay?
