Mikey Moscow’s Gaga Party (6 April 2012)

Posted on by Mikey Moscow in Party | Leave a comment

The first party I ever organized was a Lady Gaga-themed party back in March 2009. This year I decided to do it all over again, so I’ve turned my monthly ‘Mikey Moscow’s Party’ into a Gaga-fest with ‘The Fame Moster Ball’ concert screening, countless Gaga hits in my DJ setlist and a costume competition (see the photos to find out who scored the complimentary Jagermeister bottle). With glitter, dancing and laughing we did our best to pay tribute to Gaga’s New York parties. Take a look at the pictures – I think we did a pretty good job!

And by the way you can see photos from my 2009′s Gaga party at TimeOut Moscow website.

Over 50 photos under the cut (thanks to brilliant photographer Pavel Dubinin for being able to take such awesome shots between other shots).

Mikey’s Berlin Guide

Posted on by Mikey Moscow in Blog, Party, Travel | 2 Comments

I always knew I’d like Berlin. Now would I fall in love with it was a tougher question. With people describing it as ‘New York of Europe’, I was more than intrigued. Finally this July I went there for 10 days and I surely did like it a lot. Cold rainy weather was really getting on my nerves, but the last 3 days of my trip were sunny and gorgeous, so I did manage to see Berlin as it is: young, easy-going, very artsy and pretty cheap (the rent here is ridiculous!). To summarize my trip I made a small guide, where I highlighted the most interesting places. It’s pretty touristy and superficial, but hey, it was my first time! Now I can’t wait to go back and fall in love with this city completely.

Mikey Moscow’s Jawbreaker Party (17 March 2012)

Posted on by Mikey Moscow in Party | 1 Comment

At my March party I decided to share my favorite movie ‘Jawbreaker’ with the guests and the friends. We kicked the night off watching Darren Stein’s cult classic on a big screen and then danced the night away to an energetic mix of current pop hits, some ‘Jawbreaker’ soundtrack excerpts (Shampoo and Imperial Teen) and some punchy pop punk numbers to keep the 90s spirit alive. As the movie’s climax takes place during the prom and Russian proms are usually quite shady compared to the American ones, I organized a voting for bar’s king and queen. In a surprise turn of events we ended up having two kings (both my friends and both named Alexey) and one lucky queen Yana. They got their crowns and corsages and I got my fun throwing glitter at them. No backstabbing and public humiliation that night, sorry.

By the way you can read my interview with ‘Jawbreaker’ director Darren Stein here.

Mikey Moscow’s Back Party

Posted on by Mikey Moscow in Party | Leave a comment

Pop’s back in town. Tonight I’m spinning summer’s hottest tracks, throwing glitter and spreading the love across the dancefloor at ‘Mikey Moscow’s Back Party’ at ‘Darling, I’ll Call U Later’ bar (B. Strochenovskiy per., 7, Moscow). It’s my 5th party and the first one since I returned from my hurricane trip to USA, so expect extra drama.

My 3-hour-long setlist features all the necessary evils of this summer like ‘Call Me Maybe’, ‘We Are Young’, ‘Wild Ones’ and ‘Starships’. Obviously, there’s a healthy dose of dubstep (Skrillex and Nick Thayer, whose ‘Like Boom’ remix is beyond divine), kitsch dance pop (Havana Brown), GaGa (‘Judas VS Judas Priest’ mash-up), Rihanna (I managed to squeeze in 3 songs – ‘S&M’, ‘We Found Love’ and ‘Where Have You Been’) and a slutty blast from the past in the form of Lil’Kim’s ‘How Many Licks’. One of the coolest additions to the set is Titus Jones’s mash-ups, all of which are absolutely fantastic (listen to them here – http://www.titusjones.com). Plus there are some vintage guitars (Motley Crue) and dancey showtunes (‘Out Tonight’ from ‘Rent’). Trashy pop is a must, too: from Paris Hilton’s incredible ‘Drunk Text’ to Mya’s ‘Somebody Come Get This Bitch’. And there’s a Big Exclusive: gorgeous Maya von Doll gave me an Oliver Twizt remix of her upcoming debut solo single ‘Open Cheque Book’ which I’m gonna spin right in the middle of my set. And I’m not even gonna begin describing my outfit – wait for the pictures!

Mikey Moscow’s Party (21 January 2012)

Here’s a photo report from my party at “Darling, I’ll Call U Later…” bar in Moscow. Together with my friend DJ Laurie we kept on introducing out beautiful friends to each other, as well as inviting them to the dancefloor: Laurie spinned her juicy mix of funk and soul, while I played mu usual energetic kitsch-pop collection, where E-Type followed Hooverphonic, and Russian late 80′s pop band “Zvezdy” met The Killers. It was all friendly, fun and literally covered in glitter: I made my friends sparkle at the end of my set when I played “The Edge of Glory” and threw glitter at everyone. Check out 59 flashes from that night below.
