Mikey Moscow

My name’s Mikhael Agafonov.

I live in Moscow and I’m an entertainment journalist.

I cover music, cinema, nightlife and art, but can write about almost anything, if it looks interesting enough.

As a freelancer I have a luxury to pick my own stories, and yes, you can be my next story. Don’t be pushy though.

I love pop music, horror movies, chocolate milk and dancing.

I also try to participate in whatever looks appealing to me at the moment, which may range from hosting a pop party or acting as a publicist for an up-and-coming actor.

Basically, I love having fun with whatever I’m doing and I usually do.

This website is a way for me to present my work as a complete package as well as share things that are sometimes left for dead on the editorial board’s floor. Full versions of interviews, rare photos, all the goodies.

I’ve started experimenting with journalism at the age of 16 in 2006 (do the math) and never stopped ever since.

I’ve written for more than 20 publications now – mostly Russian, but some American ones as well.

I travel to America when I have a chance and usually spend around 2-3 months over there, writing stories, partying and writing stories about partying.

My portfolio includes writing for Russian versions of Rolling Stone, Playboy, Billboard and TimeOut, as well as having a couple of pieces published in US publications such as LA Weekly, Rue Morgue and The Deli New York.

One of my coolest journalist experiences was interviewing Lady GaGa during her brief visit to Moscow back in April 2009. I even scored a kiss from my favorite popstar.  Yes, it’s on YouTube.
