10 Best Zombie Movies

Posted on by Mikey Moscow in Articles, Cinema | Leave a comment

Just in time for ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 3 premiere and Halloween I made a list of 10 best zombie flicks for Rolling Stone Russia. There are some obvious choices (‘Night of The Living Dead’, etc), but also some more ‘experimental’ entries, like great coming-of-age zombie drama ‘Dead Girl’ and spectacular 90s Romeo and Juliet reboot ‘Return of the Living Dead 3′.

Carly Rae Jepsen ‘Kiss’

Posted on by Mikey Moscow in Articles, Music | Leave a comment

Here’s my review for Carly Rae Jepsen ‘Kiss’ album for Rolling Stone. Although I did enjoy the strawberry pop feel of the record, I couldn’t resist pointing at how it weird most of the album sounds, considering Carly’s turning 27 in November.

Personal album’s highlights: ‘Curiosity’, ‘More Than A Memory’, ‘Melt With You’ (a bonus track)

Bearded business

Back in June I did a big interview with Maksim Livsi and Fedor Tardatyan for SCOPE Magazine. Maksim and Fedor provide creative Brooklyn-inspired catering with farmers products and participate in countless food events around Moscow. We had an extensive talk about their business, backgrounds and the importance of having a beard.

The article’s in Russian, but you can Google.Translate it.

MTV Iggy on Pussy Riot

Politics is one of the few subjects I never cover in my writing, but I was happy to comment on Pussy Riot case to MTV Iggy’s piece. The article turned out wonderfully – great job, Beverly Bryan!

Mikey Moscow’s Gaga Party (6 April 2012)

Posted on by Mikey Moscow in Party | Leave a comment

The first party I ever organized was a Lady Gaga-themed party back in March 2009. This year I decided to do it all over again, so I’ve turned my monthly ‘Mikey Moscow’s Party’ into a Gaga-fest with ‘The Fame Moster Ball’ concert screening, countless Gaga hits in my DJ setlist and a costume competition (see the photos to find out who scored the complimentary Jagermeister bottle). With glitter, dancing and laughing we did our best to pay tribute to Gaga’s New York parties. Take a look at the pictures – I think we did a pretty good job!

And by the way you can see photos from my 2009′s Gaga party at TimeOut Moscow website.

Over 50 photos under the cut (thanks to brilliant photographer Pavel Dubinin for being able to take such awesome shots between other shots).

Ticket Scalping – Playboy Russia (February 2012)

Posted on by Mikey Moscow in Articles, Music | Leave a comment

One of the biggest stories I’ve ever written was an article on ticket scalping for Russian Playboy in February 2012. The impulse for the story was the news of The Bolshoi Theater’s crazy ticket prices. Plus there’s some kind of information about Lady Gaga’s gig in Moscow.

Mikey’s Berlin Guide

Posted on by Mikey Moscow in Blog, Party, Travel | 2 Comments

I always knew I’d like Berlin. Now would I fall in love with it was a tougher question. With people describing it as ‘New York of Europe’, I was more than intrigued. Finally this July I went there for 10 days and I surely did like it a lot. Cold rainy weather was really getting on my nerves, but the last 3 days of my trip were sunny and gorgeous, so I did manage to see Berlin as it is: young, easy-going, very artsy and pretty cheap (the rent here is ridiculous!). To summarize my trip I made a small guide, where I highlighted the most interesting places. It’s pretty touristy and superficial, but hey, it was my first time! Now I can’t wait to go back and fall in love with this city completely.

Odessa chronicles

I’m off to Berlin tomorrow (exciting!), so it’s a perfect time to recall my recent trip. Couple of days after I got back from the States my friends took me to Odessa, a famous Ukrainian seaside town. I’m not gonna bore you with words – just take a look at the video I’ve made and the best shots from the trip.

(if the link doesn’t work, there’s another one under the cut)
